Refinishing the daybed

I found this little gem on Craigslist for $50. It's an old antique daybed that sits on wheels and conveniently folds up if needed. At first I thought I'd paint it white, but decided against it as much of the other furniture in the office will likely end up being white (or light).

After lusting over a handful of fantastic daybeds on Pinterest (here, here and here), I decided to go dark with white bedding. Bought myself a few cans (only took 2) of spray paint and had at it.

My office inspiration is beginning to take shape.

The List..

As I'm jotting down my list of projects I figured I'd share here as well..especially since it's so much fun to cross them off when we've finished!

This is the first stab at our big list (knowing that each of these has their own list of steps), and I'm sure it will grow as we begin to tackle each of these. There is a handful of small tasks we need to do..like buy a new coffee table..but I don't really consider those "projects" per say. I should probably create a separate shopping list. Save that for another post :)

Living Room Inspiration

As soon as the house paperwork was signed, sealed and delivered, we started selling the furniture in our rental. We hadn't invested in any really nice pieces yet (since we knew we'd eventually buy), which is awesome because, furniture shopping! And also stressful because, furniture shopping!

We have a lot of beautiful brown millwork and hardwood floors and wanted to find furniture that both bit our taste as well as the esthetic of the home's character. The only purchase thus far has been a brown leather sofa from Restoration Hardware (counting down the days until delivery!), so that's taken the lead as far as the design choices and inspiration for the room...

Beginning the basement transformation

Just started reno on our townhouse basement this weekend. The previous owners put up some shabby wood paneling which was grubby, but made for a pretty easy tear down. It took us about a day to get everything removed, giving us a good head start for the rebuild and sheetrock that will come next.

A kitchen makeover

Everyone loves a good makeover! Today, the kitchen plays my victim. I'm slowly trying to beautify how I can as we're renting temporarily. The yellow walls were a little much. Too cheery. Especially since I love a good gray and dreary wall. Step one, make a mess. Step two, prime. Step three, paint. Here's a few from the beginning stage. Stay tuned!
